The Governor of Lagos State, on 19th of January, 2026 signed the ₦4.4 trillion into Law. This ceremony was held at the conference room in the Lagos State House, located in Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo Olu presented the appropriation bill in November 2025, in which he stated that the budget was created to promote prosperity and build a better Lagos that benefits all of its residents.
According to him, the mission is to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all.

However, the Lagos state house of assembly at the beginning of the year passed the budget, which was tagged “Budget of shared prosperity,” hence the lawmakers endorsed the bill authorising the issuance and appropriation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the fiscal year 2026.
We had the likes of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat; members of the state executive council; lawmakers from the state House of Assembly; the Head of Service, Bode Agoro; and other key stakeholders of the state present at the ceremony.
