On Friday, September 13, 2024, the staff of Abia State Polytechnic in Aba, could not contain their joy following the payment of their salary arrears.
Remember that the Abia State government announced plans in June of this year to pay back the N16.5 billion in wage arrears that the previous administration owed to the employees of the state-owned universities in installments.
Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Mike Akpara, revealed this information to reporters in Umuahia while guaranteeing that the government would equitably settle wage arrears to certain state civil service employees in installments.
The first group of employees collected their salary arrears on Friday, and they were very joyful with this development. The staff celebrated and praised God while on their knees in a video shared online.
