Chidinma Adetshina of Nigeria made history on Saturday, November 16, 2024, when she placed first runner-up in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City.
Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, Miss Denmark, was crowned Miss Universe 2024. Theilvig won the title after defeating 124 competitors from around the world. She is the next Miss Universe replacing Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
With 18 moms competing and first-time participants from nations including Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Moldova, and Somalia, this year's Miss Universe celebrated inclusivity.
The number of semifinalists increased from 20 to 30, and the tournament began with a record-breaking 125 entrants.
Twelve of the group were chosen after the swimsuit parade, and they went on to the evening gown round, where the final five competitors were selected.
Nigeria, Denmark, Thailand, Mexico, and Venezuela were among the countries represented among the finalists.
Before the winner was declared, the competitors had to endure a final parade and two rounds of questions in the final stages. Third, fourth, and fifth place went to Mexico, Thailand, and Venezuela, respectively.
