Onwukwe, an Assistant Chief Legislative Officer with the Abia State House of Assembly, was suspended by the legislative body for alleged misconduct.
The Officer, who is the National Vice President, South East of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, resumed work on Monday, March 17, 2025 after 35 months of suspension in spite of the fact that some Abia State relevant authorities had long cleared him of any misconduct but the House maintained its stand on suspending him.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Arc Victor Chinedu Enyioko said the Abia State Governor had, by virtue of his prompt attention into the matter of Comrade Onwukwe, demonstrated the fact that he is not only a father, but a listening Governor, who believes in justice for all.
Enyioko, popularly known as Arc Don Best, also extended the appreciation of the Youth Wing of the ADU to Otti for bringing the life of their brother, Onwukwe back on track, adding that the Governor has, indeed, shown that he has come to bring a new lease of life to the people of Abia.
He commended Onwukwe for his hard work and doggedness, and prayed God to continue to protect him as he resumes work fully.
